Types of Dentures

Traditional Dentures

Traditional dentures have a gum-colored base designed to hug the gumline. Attached to the base are your replacement teeth. Depending on how many teeth you’re missing, we can create a denture to replace an entire arch or craft a partial denture if you still have some healthy natural teeth remaining. The only difference between the two is that partial dentures usually have clasps that attach to existing teeth for extra support.

Implant-Supported Dentures

If you currently have uncomfortable, ill-fitting dentures, or you’re looking for a more stable option, implant-supported dentures may be the right option for you. Implants are small posts that replace tooth roots. They fuse with the jawbone and create a strong foundation for replacement teeth (dentures included) to snap onto. With implants, your dentures won’t slip or slide throughout the day!

The Cost of Dentures

There isn’t a set cost for dentures because the price relies heavily on which type of denture you need, how many teeth you’re replacing, and whether or not you choose to get implants before your dentures. We don’t want cost concerns to keep you from a full, beautiful smile, which is why we offer and accept a wide range of payment options to help you fit dentures into your budget!

How do you take care of dentures?

Full dentures, partial dentures, and even implant-supported dentures are all removable, and patients must remove them to clean them properly. Most toothbrushes and toothpastes are too rough on false teeth, so you’ll need a soft-bristle toothbrush and special denture cleaner. You will also need a denture solution that you can soak your dentures in at night. Dentures can be left in the mouth while sleeping, but we strongly advise patients to soak their dentures to keep them moist, help them maintain their shape, and last for a long time.

Is it hard to eat with dentures?

There will be an adjustment period after you begin wearing dentures for the first time, and it may feel a little strange or even painful to eat with them. During this time, you should stick to eating soft foods and cutting your food into little pieces while your gums adjust. Once you get the hang of eating with dentures, it should become easier to eat with them than with missing teeth. If your dentures still feel uncomfortable or painful after a few weeks, let us know, and we will make sure that they fit correctly.

Should I get traditional dentures or implant-supported dentures?

Implant-supported dentures require patients to have strong and healthy jawbones that can support multiple dental implants. Some patients can receive bone graft surgeries to create a stable jawbone for implant placements, which means this option tends to require more recovery time since there are one or more surgeries involved. However, implant-supported dentures do offer more stability than traditional dentures. If you don’t know which one to pick, our team will be happy to help you decide at your consultation.
